Who should be included in developing annual strategy within a small business. I struggle to make decisions because I am always trying to get buy in from everyone.

Strategy Development is highly dependent on so many factors: size of the company, maturity or stage in organisational growth, competitive landscape, and so forth. Of these, the stage in which the company finds itself is key, as it determines where to focus, which implies as much what not to do, as it does what to do.

    Is this for your business?

      Hi Geordie

Thank you for the reply. It is for my business with 3 other partners but they are actual people who do the service offering itself and I’m responsible for business growth and backend and process etc

It would be great to be able to sit with someone business orientated. It is not what they are there for. It’s a small business and maybe reading your reply I realize actually I am it for now 🙈

        Hi Kirsten,

We can meet for a chat about your business. The purpose will be just to get to know each other. If you will afford me two hours (and a cup of coffee) we can do a business analysis and I will leave you with valuable insights into your business and share some ideas. I guarantee there will be no sales pitch (unless you specifically ask me to 😉 ) As I said the purpose is for us to meet and to get to know each other.

Unfortunately, I can only suggest a tentative time for 10:00 on Tuesday, as I may have to travel to Lesotho. sometime within the next two weeks. You are welcome to contact me by phone or email – my contact details are in my profile.

        Kind regards
        Geordie

    HI AAR

As Geordie stated highly dependant on various factors but very high level consider the following.

Identify businesses core purpose -what is the big picture?

Evaluate the Market and playing field you in

Identify where you are highly competitive and what is unique about your organisation(value proposition) both internally and externally(a Pestle analysis is great for external analysis- great templates on google) ?

Identify your resources- then identify your capabilities – then see where is your competitive advantage-thrash out your strategic options and where opportunity lies. Then build your strategic response

I would suggest Strategy lies with leadership involve the key resources that provide your unique competitive advantage too much input can dilute the process.

As an extra point owners intuition is often underplayed as they develop an intrinsic genius for their business but the downside of this can be situational blindness.

Thank you Chairman. I will have to go back to the drawing board and start the process and go through the steps. It needs to be a focus as I want it to go international on a digital level. I will give feedback once done and see if I can get something great started
