The Problem.
The statistics speak volumes: Approximately 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open in the United States, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first 10 years. Only 25% of new businesses make it to 15 years or more.
Additionally in South Africa, unemployment, inequality, and poverty affect millions, and small, micro and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) are critical to reversing these trends. Yet, the failure rate of new businesses is staggering, with many succumbing within the first few years. This is a tragedy we cannot accept, especially considering the pivotal role SMMEs play in economic growth and job creation.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by South African businesses, including a weak economy and infrastructure issues, we’ve identified two primary drivers of failure: passion without expertise and the absence of timely, relevant advice.
